Thank you!
Matt’s entire family appreciates the caring and support we have received since Matt died. We could not walk this road alone and are so thankful for our family and friends who have been right beside us all the way. We also want to thank the wonderful people at the Christi Center in Austin who have experienced similar loses, held our hand, cried with us and helped us begin navigating the road of life after losing Matt!

When you bring a child into the world you are filled with excitement about their future. You have plans all laid out for them to have a happy childhood, grow into a smart, polite and good-hearted person. You hope they find the partner of their dreams, have children of their own bless their lives and living a long and healthy life. We were blessed to have Matt as our son for his 23 short years and he left us too soon!

We know how fully he lived life while he was here. He loved with his whole heart, had a great sense of humor, and could get others to laugh and smile even when they were having a tough day. He lived for baseball and always knew family came first! We will forever miss him and wish we could have had more time with him!

We have heard from so many people who have shared their “Matt stories” with us and we thank you so much; because knowing that he won’t be forgotten is all a grieving parent can ask for. So, we were really blown away when Coach Cochran called us in January to let us in on a plan that had been in the works since Matt’s funeral in June 2014.

Apparently, after the funeral, the coaches and teammates that attended wanted to find a way to honor Matt. This turned into holding an Alumni game and setting up a scholarship in his name. The fact that they didn’t wanted to do this means that he won’t be forgotten and it brought us to tears!

We are looking forward to the “1st Annual Matt Arellano Memorial Alumni Game” which is being held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 1:30 pm. So much behind the scenes work has gone into making this day possible. There are no words to describe the love and thankfulness we have in our hearts for the CPHS Baseball Booster Club, KMAC Sports, his coaches, teammates and friends for making it possible!

Our hearts will be forever grateful to Coach Connie Cochran, Coach Carl Abseck, and his teammates, Nathan Thornhill, Junior Coronado and Sean Lutz for wanting to ensure that Matt is not forgotten! Thank you just does not seem adequate!
